The History of Earth Cycle Technologies

Earth Cycle Technologies previous director Robert Ryan originally began working and studying in construction management level 8 in Limerick Institute of Technology. Although successful in all subjects he always wanted to be more hands on with the construction itself and left the course to get back on site.

After some time on site Robert then went on to study drafting, design, computer aided drawing applications, construction, office skills, and IT/excel/database/html/css/js coding holding level 4-6 in each including the City and Guilds Level 4. This  meant he could still hold an element of hands-on only from a design standpoint which he always  had a flare for.

Robert began working in MosArt leaving his further education in 2005 where he was studying to be an architectural technologist for 2 years and had a further 2 years to complete but never got back to it as work was plentyfull.

In 2007 Robert had already proven himself in Thermal Bridge Modelling, Passive House Planning Calculations, Planning Applications in difficult areas, Construction Detailing, Construction Drawings, Moisture Movement, Office Procedures, Excel Applications, Information Technology, Hardware, Storage, 3D Modelling, CGI, Photomontages and Commercial Design Implementations. It was during this time that Robert’s career was strengthened as due to global recession, Robert’s duties and skills were extended as far as possible.

Work at MosArt in the early days reached to all corners of the Globe with projects in Australia, America, China and Across the Western Isles of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England. Projects of all sizes from high rise mixed use to small residential projects were among over 300 buildings he was involved with in 10 years working for the company.

Robert also during this time had been involved in and orchestrated training Architects, Consultants and Engineers in Passive House methodologies, software and design principals. Robert aided with the design of construction details, building assemblies and thermal bridging daily while offering support for PHPP (Passive House Planning Package) training courses and software sales.

Robert also developed the first thermal bridging calculator in the US for use with LBNL therm in inch pound units which led to the success of the training in that continent.

In 2015, Robert then went on to create his own practise in energy efficiency – Earth Cycle Technologies. He consulted on just 200 projects all similar scale. He developed and provided no frills sustainable offsite online training, obtained Passive House Certifier status and worked from home opting for the lowest possible carbon footprint while achieving work life balance and being close to his family.

In the years after 2019 Covid, lockdowns severely damaged Earth Cycle Technologies as Robert did his utmost to hold onto the business despite almost no earnings, post 2021 the company did survive and began to recover but in 2023 a change to the variables in DEAP and NEAP software removed the need for thermal modellers and so many of Roberts Clients were lost.

In early 2024 David Moran began funding a new development of software, completely written, designed, using the latest technology and written to EU standards by Robert Ryan. The software demanded every inch of Robert experience, knowledge, skills, and much, much more. Robert, with his basic knowledge of coding in college,  began to delve heavily into many diffferent coding languages and architectures and began to add all his experience to energy efficiency programs.

Robert and David presented a full implementation at a BAC Enniscorthy International Forum of the UNEP (United Nations Environmental Program) in the Summer of 2025 where over 200 viewers (20 in person and many more online) could see the programs workflow which shocked even the greatest experts. The software could estimate the temperatures in each Zone in the building for analysis even with a short 45 live demonstration of modelling and entering data for a simple volume. It could look at all loads and demands considering occupancy, gains, losses, and renewables in a way that made it easy and enjoyable.

Shortly after this presentation David Moran and Robert Ryan got into difficulties and the partnership ended due to differences in direction. â€‹At present Earth Cycle Technologies is no longer trading but if you would like to show support and say hello, please feel free to use the contact page. All projects going forward will be with MosArt, if you would  like  to contact us through the contact page on https://mosartgroup.com/

Our Online courses cannot be purchased anymore but are still open for anyone who historically has paid for them.New training and information may come available in the future with the new position but this must be discussed internally.
